The Assistant by Elle Brace

The synopsis promised something great. The reviews said it was good. What I read was anything and everything but great. It had potential but fell flat.

Emily was annoying to me. She blushed way too much over the littlest things. She was 24 years old for crying out loud. She couldn't say the word sex. She called penis, "it". She couldn't look at a naked man without covering her eyes and making a big deal about it. She couldn't even get undressed in front of a guy. She got uncomfortable anytime her boss got to close to her. She kept reminding me that Adrian was her boss. I got that fact the first 20 times I read it. I didn't need her constantly reminding me. Emily was plain childish. She was suppose to be fat or at least that's what the females in the books called her but the guys loved her and wanted her. The guys made her seem super sexy but then why didn't she have a boyfriend. In fact, she only had one boyfriend her whole life, so she couldn't be that desirable. The females in this book were just plain stupid. They were petty. They called her fat and made her seem like she was scum.

I never read a book before where literally every guy that met the main female wanted her but in this book that was the case. Every guy that was introduced wanted Emily. It was so annoying and unreal. The waiter, or should I say waiters because there were a lot of them, the best friend of Adrian's, Adrian's business associates, random guys walking by, literally every man in this books wanted her.

Adrian was supposed to be a hot playboy. And with all the females that came and went, I saw it. I however, didn't see what made him want Emily so much. He was protective, super jealous and rich. He had a sweet side that we barely ever saw though. He too seemed way too childish. He always made suggestive comments to Emily. He was like a horny teenage boy more than a grown man.

I felt this book was really a high school drama and they changed some things to make it an adult read.

Captivated By You (Crossfire #4) by Sylvia Day

I liked Captivated by You. This series is so long but after reading Captivated by You, I am one book closer to finishing the series. It's taken too long for the books to come out. I read the third book in the series over a year and a half ago and I forgot most of everything that had happen and what was going on. When I started reading this book, I was confused and had to stop. I reread the other 3 books first, just so I would know what was going on. Captivated by You is mostly Gideon's story. There are parts that are in Eva's POV, but not as many. I liked reading from his view. I liked getting into his head and getting a feel for what he was feeling.

The book picks up right where it left off. Gideon and Eva are more than ever in love. Gideon is still trying to deal with his past and Eva is standing by his side. I love their relationship. It's very passionate. I didn't like the part where Gideon called Eva a bitch. It just seems degrading to me. He's her husband, yet he calls her such a mean name. I know he was mad at the time, but that isn't an excuse. There is tons of sex, but I think that's how they connect. They know they love each other and want to be together, but I think the mind blowing sex actually shows it to the other person. They're deeply connected with the other person during those times. They also argue and fight alot it seemed like. If they weren't having sex, they were fighting.

Gideon and Ireland make progress in their relationship. I like reading about them two. They have came so far in the sibling relationship and I hope they continue. It seemed like Gideon regrets not being around when Ireland was younger and he's trying to make up for it now. I still don't understand Gideon's and his relationship about his brother. Christopher hates him something fierce. I didn't know a sibling could hate someone that much. It seems like Christopher is jealous of Gideon for some reason. I like reading about Gideon when he was hanging out with his friends. He almost seemed normal and human. He laughed, joked and was a normal 28 year old guy. It was refreshing.

Gideon is still very much dealing with his past. I was happy when the truth finally came out. I had suspected what happen to him, but him finally coming out and saying was worth reading this book. I feel like I am in the loop in Gideon's and Eva's relationship. I was shocked about Gideon's stepdad not knowing what happen. I would think there would have been some clues as to what was going on. I was also shocked how he reacted when he found out. He loves Gideon like his own and couldn't believe it.

I hope the next book comes out sooner rather than later and it's the last book in the series. As much as I loved Gideon and Eva, I just can't stay committed to them much longer. It's about time they got the happy ending they deserve.

Prisoner (Criminals & Captives #1) by Annika Martin and Skye Warren

I loved this book. I should of hated it and I tried to but it was good. I was drawn in from the very first page. There was just something about it. I think I loved the plot of the book. It was a good storyline. I have never read anything like it before. The book is told from Grayson's and Abigail's POV. I absolutely loved Garyson. He alone should have made me hate this story just because of the way he was with Abigail(Abby) at first, but he and his story is what made me love the book. My opinion of him changed towards the end of the book. Grayson was a good person, he just had a messed up life that made him hard and unapproachable and almost incapable of love.

Grayson and Abby had chemistry from the very beginning. Their chemistry had nothing to do with the fact that he was a hot dangerous prisoner and she was a beautiful untouchable girl. It was the way he looked at her and the way he wanted her without really knowing her. The first thought he had when he saw her was mine. He wanted to own her in every possible way.

Grayson was protective of Abby from the moment he saw her. One of his friends told him to kill her and he agreed to but he never had any intention of killing her. He wanted her way too much. He had little day dreams about of what he wanted to do to her. Even after he got what he wanted from Abby, he still wanted her. She was a piece of heaven to him. He was an escape prisoner that took Abby hostage, so he should be dangerous, but he was still nice to Abby in his own way. He made sure she was taken care of, fed her, cleaned her wounds, and made sure she got sleep. He protected her the best way he knew how. It was like he had a heart and could be a good person if he tried. Maybe he only tried to be a good person with Abby. He was mean to her and made her do some degrading stuff, but I saw it as a way to prove Abby wanted him.

Abby was a do gooder. She was college student that hid behind her glasses and book. She too had a bad life growing up. Her mom was a drug user and ended up overdosing. Abby killed her mom's boyfriend when she was younger and then killed again for Grayson. Grayson made her feel things. She never had the love or attention Grayson gave her. The first time she saw him she was drawn to him. He sparked something in her. I loved how Abby came to depend on Grayson.

I loved Prisoner. I hope there is more books in the series. There is way more story left to be told. I want to know what happens with Grayson and Abby, the other guys in the book and the plot was left open. It needs another book so the reader can know what happens.

Eight Days A Week by Amber L. Johnson

Teaser 1:
“Can I see it?” she whispered.
“Yes?”
I meant yes, please.
“You know what I think? I think you’ve been teasing me on purpose. Losing your shirt at dinner. Walking around in that towel. You’re a man tease. A mease.”

Teaser 2:
“I’m so sticky,” Gwen said into my ear then laughed.
I kept my eyes straight forward on the stage.
She snuggled in against my neck. “What? Why are you grumpy all of a sudden?”
I turned to her, all humor gone from my face. “I’m just not interested in watching you make a fool of yourself.”
“Excuse me?”
“You’re a mom. Maybe you should act like one.”

Teaser 3:
I laughed and headed back toward the kitchen door but stopped just by her ear. “You look sexy in the morning. Even with the Lindsay Lohan eyeliner.”
“Stop it.” She popped me on the back of the neck.

Captivated By You (Crossfire #4) by Sylvia Day

Sylvia Day has posted the first 3 chapters to Captivated By You, book 4 in the Crossfire series. I have read them and it seems like it's going to be a good book. The chapters seem to alternate between Cross and Eva. I can't wait to read this book which releases next week.

Denied (One Night #2) by Jodi Ellen Malpas

Denied was a good second book in the series. I didn't really see a point in the book besides the fact I got to read about Miller and Olivia. Nothing big happen, there wasn't a big climax or anything. Most of the book, Miller chases Olivia around trying to get her to forgive him, they have a couple of chapters of happiness and then Miller pushes Olivia away. The book goes downhill from the there. Not in a bad way but just a lot starts to happen at the end and it was hard to keep up with everything happening.

Miller was still uptight as ever but we got to see glimpses of his fun side. He does have a sense of humor (who knew) under all the perfect control freak ways. He also has a crazy bad temper. I was shocked when he would go off. He would get so mad and would start yelling and fighting people. The little details about his life was also a little shocking.

I'm glad Olivia made Miller work to get her back. Normally, in books when the couple breaks up the man apologizes and all is forgiven. The couple goes back to being in love but that wasn't the case here. Even though Olivia was misery and wanted to jump right back into bed with Miller, she fought him, ran from him and made him chase her before she finally got back into bed with him again.

The whole thing with Olivia's mom kind of foreshadowed what was going to happen. Everyone kept talking about her, so I knew eventually she was gonna pop up. I wasn't that surprised when she did. William looking after Olivia annoyed me. He just couldn't leave her alone and I didn't understand it. He wasn't her dad, she didn't have to listen to him. To me, it seemed like William felt responsible for Olivia because he was in love with her mom and couldn't save her. I hated the cliffhanger at the end. I hate cliffhangers in general. I don't see a point in them. At least I won't have to wait long to read the next book. February is only a couple of months away and it will go by fast.

Tied (Tangled #4) by Emma Chase

Tied was a great conclusion to Drew and Kate's story. I didn't really see a point in the book since it didn't really have a plot. Tied is told from Drew's POV. It has the same great characters all the other books in the Tangled series have. I love Drew and his thoughts. The Tangled Series was the first set of books I ever read in a man's POV and I absolutely loved them. I think I am going to miss Drew and his bizarre thoughts a little. He is like no other guy I have ever read about.

Drew is still the same guy. Kate is still the same girl. They have been through everything as a couple and are finally getting married. Tied is about the bachelor/bachelorette parties in Las Vegas. There isn't a big climax or problem the couple faces. It just about one night the couple went out separately and had some much needed fun before their big day.

Drew knows Kate is the love of his life and he can't wait to marry her. He doesn't want anyone else. The only thing that the couple sort of dealt with was the morning after the parties. Drew can't find Kate and he thinks he made a huge mistake that Kate isn't going to forgive him for but that's cleared up within 5 pages. There is a little bit of steamy sex but it's a little low. The other books in the series had more.

I love Steven and Alexandra and I wish there was a book on how those 2 came about. I love them as a couple and as individuals. The other secondary characters are great too but Steven and Alexandra are my favorite. I think my favorite part in Tied was Drew trying to change Matt's and Dee's baby's name. I thought it was funny and just like something he would do.

Resist Me (Men of Inked #3) by Chelle Bliss

I loved this book from start to finish. It was a great easy read. Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. I had to know what was going to happen. I thought it was better than the previous books.

Isabella or Izzy is strong, independent, sassy stands her ground, and mouthy. She takes no shit from anyone, not her older brothers and definitely not any guy she sleeps with.  She is seriously one bad ass chick. Every female in books should be like her.  She wanted a strong guy that could handle her and her loud family. She wasn't prepared for James. I loved Izzy's relationship with her parents especially her dad. She is a real daddy's girl even though she acts tough, she still seems like a little girl at heart.

James is super sexy, demanding, alpha male, and clearly knows how to please a woman. He is an undercover cop that works with Izzy's brother Thomas. Thomas has told him all about Izzy and he feels likes he knows her. When he meets her, he wants her immediately. He chases Izzy until she finally admits she wants him. I liked James more than I like Izzy's brothers. The Gallo boys try to hard to be alpha males and be strong but it seems like James actually is an alpha male without really trying.

Their steamy sexy scenes are off the charts. I don't know how I would feel about a guy talking to me the way James sometimes talked to Izzy. It seemed a little degrading especially when he made her crawl to him, but Izzy somehow made it seem like she was the one in control and she had James where she wanted him. James definitely knows dirty talk. I love their banter and chemistry. It was extreme. Izzy didn't make it easy for James and I think that what I loved the most. She made him work for it.

Dirty Rowdy Thing (Wild Seasons #2) by Christina Lauren

Teaser 1:
“Please?” I whisper, stretching to kiss his neck. “Pretty please, with Harlow naked on top?”

Teaser 2:
He barks out a delighted laugh. “Who was the first?”
My first. I realize now he was tiny, but it still hurt. I swear I look back on it now and see my virginity being taken by a baby carrot.”

Teaser 3:
She steps out and crosses the damp grass toward me, dressed in jeans and a faded blue long-sleeved T-shirt, hair in a high ponytail, wearing a bright smile and not a trace of makeup.
I’m pretty sure she’s never looked more beautiful.

Teaser 4:
“Lola, I swear I’m not going to make this worse. I fucking love her.”
“The Magnolia Hotel in Victoria. Room 408.”
